Assessment

Assessment is mainly by unseen written examination. These examinations take place on one occasion each year, normally in May and are held at a number of centres in the UK and centres outside the UK. Overseas students should note that they may be required to come to London for oral examinations.

The examination timetable is drawn up each year after all the examination entry forms for a particular degree or diploma have been received (please see the Examinations section of this website for further details).

The standard of the examination for degrees is the same as that for students studying at a College of the University. Upon graduation, depending on the marks gained, you will be awarded a classified Honours degree.

When you register as an External student you are not automatically entered for your examinations. These are separate procedures and you have to apply to enter. The Regulations, which you are sent as part of your study package, will tell you how and when to do this. The University send you the Regulations when they give you an offer of registration and every year after that when the University receive your continuing registration fee.
