BA and Diploma in English

Structure and Syllabus

BA degree: 12 units (4 compulsory foundation units plus 8 optional advanced units)
Diploma: 4 units (the 4 compulsory foundation units)

To obtain the BA degree you must pass in all 12 units. In any one year you may choose to enter examinations in a minimum of one and a maximum of four new units. If you satisfy the entrance requirements for the degree and are appropriately qualified you may apply for exemption from any of the Foundation units when applying for the BA degree.  There are no exemptions available for the Diploma.

Transfer to the BA English: If you pass the Diploma in English you'll be invited to transfer your registration to BA English and will automatically be credited with the papers passed in the Diploma. In effect, you will go on to the advanced units of the degree and will be able to complete in a minimum of two further years. You won't have to pay another registration fee and the registration period of eight years will date from the initial registration for the Diploma. Please note that a student registered for the BA English who passes the foundation units cannot be awarded the Diploma in English.
